Aston Martin DBX | Gaydon’s First Ever SUV Comes With A 550-HP And 700 Nm Twin-Turbo V8
After a long gestation and some doubts raised after having seen various test mules in the final stage of development, Aston Martin finally removes the veils from its first SUV, aptly called DBX. What immediately catches the eye is that the design has undergone small but fundamental changes capable of making the line of the car sinuous and not at all obvious, logically going to fish among the distinctive traits of the V8 Vantage, especially at the back where the tail also incorporates the headlights and slims the silhouette of Gaydon’s first ever SUV. It will not stop in front of any obstacle, thanks to air suspension that can handle a weight of 2,245 kg even on paved road, a fundamental aspect for a car that sports such a prestigious emblem on the bonnet. In fact, the only version currently available is powered by a 4-liter twin-turbo V8 (the base is the same as the Vantage and DB11) capable of delivering 550 horsepower and 700 Nm of torque, thus reaching 291 kph.
Traction is obviously on both axles and has a limited slip differential and torque vectoring on the rear one, a 9-speed automatic gearbox and Hill Descent Control mode (for the most demanding bits), alongside the new Terrain and Terrain+, which in addition to the standard ones offer better disengagement on different grounds than those usually favored by an Aston Martin. The interior is the apotheosis of elegance, with fine leather upholstery (Bridge Of Weir), but constant attention to technology as well, as for example in the case of the 12.3” display that replaces the instrumentation in front of the driver and that joins the main 10.25” display that sits in the center of the dashboard. Prices starting at € 193,500 and deliveries scheduled for the second quarter of 2020, with the first 500 units built as special 1913 Package series and offering personalized badges and signature of CEO Andy Palmer.
