BMW M3 (E36)
Probably with our latest episodes we have convinced you that you do not need to spend consistent amount of money to bring home a car capable to draw a smile on your face, but some are still skeptical about the speed speech. Well, it’s time to talk about this, since riding the wave of BMW’s celebrations for its 100 years and the 30th anniversary of the M3, we celebrate in our own way the series E36, which is the second series of the prolific Bavarian coupe.
Equipped with rear wheel drive and an optimum weight balance, the E36 arrived in 1992, powered by a 286hp 3.0-liter. A few years later time was right for a restyling, with which we welcome the 3.2cc, thanks to an in-line 6-cylinder engine able to output 321 horses. Mated to a 5-speed manual (subsequently also available with a 6-speed), this M3 proves right away able to embody the sporting spirit of the previous version, while offering better finishes and comfort. In short, a true grand tourer. If we think that nowadays it can be our starting at around € 15,000, you’ll surely have a look around, perhaps searching for one as close to the original as possible. Maybe the E36 M3 doesn’t have a fresh line as the legendary E46, but in terms of performance has nothing to envy, especially when you decide to go full throttle asking to the 6-cylinder to sing loud, something that will soon become your new obsession.
