COL DE TURINI TOUR: Where Eagles Dare
The most extraordinary adventures are those that require the best concentration and the 2017 edition of the Col de Turini Tour has undoubtedly been a fantastic challenge renewed to one of the most demanding roads in Europe. With over 160km of curves and hairpins, the nearly 40 participating cars have been able to experience the strong emotions that WRC drivers live during the World Championship Rally Stage. Beautiful cars, beautiful people and a shining sun up in the sky – these were the main ingredients that acted as a driving pleasure experience, where some enthusiasts dated their appointment from last year’s edition and others met for the very first time, admiring their cars and not losing the opportunity to drive as a similar road imposes.
A week after this year’s event, adrenaline has not dropped and the desire to come back where the eagles dare is strong inside each of us. Starting from the radiant Montecarlo, we immediately entered into the Principality’s tunnels, and as the decibels got up, we started climbing towards La Turbie and then heading towards Menton and then Sospel. Things immediately became serious and everyone proved to be up to the task, driving between a ravine and an intimidating rock wall. At the top, a group preferred to cool down the engine and brakes, while the most daring thrown themselves into the Special Stage de La Bollène Vésubie, just to increase the appetite before lunch. After coffee, no waste of time and we started driving towards Lucérame, then along the Col de l’Orme and finally down the crazy Col de Braus. Last miles blasted into the picturesque valleys around Peille and then heading to Monaco for the aperitif, the awards and greetings.
