Porsche Taycan: Does An Electric Car Have The Right To Be Called Turbo?
The all-electric sedan, the first in the history of the Stuttgart Company, prepared us on its arrival thanks to a slow and reasoned approach to the final production. Now it is able to shake the situation once again, presenting itself as Taycan Turbo and Taycan Turbo S. If at first the general turmoil has turned the nose of the most, we must also take into account the fact that Porsche does not intend to displace at all its customers and indeed wants to make them feel at home in a completely new context for the brand, that of electric cars.
As for the petrol (and hybrid) counterparts, the two versions of the Taycan will be characterized by a difference in terms of specific power of the electric unit, with the Turbo that delivers a maximum power of 680 horsepower and the Turbo S that even reaches 761, obviously ready for instant delivery, typical for electric motors. However, the aspect that Porsche is keen to emphasize is the fact that it is not an electric car disguised as a Porsche, but a Porsche that demonstrates that it is capable of harnessing clean energy, in this case with an estimated range that goes up to 450 kilometers (something less for the Turbo S).
In summary, the Taycan wears the clothes of a fastback sedan with a streamlined tail that is well detached from the Panamera design, it weighs around 2,370 kg and makes it necessary to adopt pneumatic suspensions managed by the Porsche 4D Chassis Control. There is also a torque vectoring, self-locking differential on the rear and selective braking on each wheels in order to better manage the driving power. Compared to the other Porsche models, the available driving modes will be Normal, Sport, Sport + and Range, dedicated to this electric one and useful for optimizing energy consumption. Prices starting from € 156.817 for the Turbo and € 190.977 for the Turbo S. All that remains is trying it to really understand it!
