The 4-Cylinder Turbo of the new Porsche 718 Boxster Won’t Let You Down
After about 20 years (since the 968), Porsche returns to offer a 4-cylinder engine. The needs that led car makers to a global downsizing, have not only reverberated with the adoption of turbos on the upgrading 911, but in the case of the small roadster from Stuttgart, we are facing with a completely new range of engines. By the way, this is not bad news, given that this fact will power the entry level Porsche with a 2.0 and a 2.5 boxer engine (for the S version), equipped with a turbo that allows outputs of 300 and 350 horses. Efficiency and fuel consumption will be the first to enjoy this change, but performance will not be outdone, since also providing a new suspension settings and the possibility to opt for the PDK gearbox (as an alternative to the classic 6-speed manual), the new 718 Boxster further improves its performance figures: 380Nm of torque for the standard version and 420Nm for the more powerful S, it accelerates from 0 to 100 in about 4.7 and 4.2 seconds respectively. On the technical side it promises very joyful things, while aesthetically updates are both on the exterior as well as the interior, making the little roadster the right choice for every kind of customer. Prices start at around € 51,000 and goes up to € 65,000 for the Boxster S. Definitely reasonable.
