TVR Griffith: Rebirth
Ten years have passed, but we can finally touch the rebirth of the English TVR. After a long wait and several proclamations and supposed returns, the difficult task of bringing back on our roads one of the most extraordinary and controversial brands goes to the Griffith, which collects the witness of the previous series, that ended its production back in 2002. A sort of All-Star Team has handed the new Griffith, starting from the chassis, by Gordon Murray, passing through the Cosworth engine. As for the design, we find tributes to the brand scattered here and there and a confirmation of the formula of the coupe with a long engine bonnet and traction on the rear axle only.
To give power to the rear wheels there is a powerful naturally aspirated V8 and its 480HP, which are mated to a 6-speed manual transmission that touches the red line at 7,500 rpm. The weight remains as traditionally reduced to just 1,280 kg, allowing performance that will spin the new TVR as a true supercoupe, without sacrificing the dynamism and nervousness that has made the English signature famous. In the United Kingdom, the first Griffith Launch Edition (500 units) will be delivered towards the end of 2018 at about £ 90,000 – there is nothing left to wait and evaluate its reliability, hoping it has not remained as fragile as it was in the past!
