120 Years of Renault – Renault Estafette (1963)
It was first introduced in 1959 and then declined in the most varied versions with the main objective of simplifying life at work on board the car itself. The Estafette was great for numerous structural reasons, including its flat floor, independent wheels and an exceptional turning circle. In addition, the driver’s seat was in a very advanced position to allow excellent visibility and maximum load capacity. Another innovation was the sliding doors, often left opened to speed getting up and down the vehicle.
More than 530,000 were produced and from 1959 to 1980 – the year in which it ended its production – the Estafette passed from a small 4 cylinder from 845cc to a 1,289cc, maintaining a low weight and the great ability to fulfill every function assigned. Even today it is impossible to remain impassive in front of the sympathy of the small van from Renault, such as this ice cream one that has carved out a place in the official Renault Classic collection.
