Pink Drivers: Lady Jag
Pink Drivers – Episode 1
Jaguar F-Type Convertible
Finally here we are with the first appointment with my own mini-column and let me tell you – I think I deserved it! In fact, when I’m not hanging around for some photo shoots, I take every opportunity to be part of some adventure on those extraordinary roads you browse every month on Auto Class. The days spent with the Jaguar F-Type are among the most beautiful that I remember and the car itself represents everything you would want in an elegant lady capable of sharing beautiful moments when you think of a trip out of the ordinary. The flaw of the cabriolet version? The trunk, which is practically non-existent.
I admit it, the charm of some cars is superior to others and that of the F-Type is truly unique. It may be due to its timeless style of a perfect grand tourer, or the mumble of the sports exhausts of the special edition we tested, the 400 Sport (produced by Jaguar for just one year), but every kilometer with it has been an authentic emotion. This is one of those cases in which it is not so much a matter of speed, but of sensations and the F-Type Convertible knows how to give a proper dose of strong ones. During the days of test in which we also took most of the photographs, I was lucky enough to find myself at the wheel and drive several kilometers and I can’t wait for this to happen again. The driving experience was phenomenal, the softness with which you can dance between the curves, without ever feeling that frenzy typical of cars more focused on pure speed is in my opinion the main ingredient that makes this a precious jewel in the midst of lots of equally good cars.
A single warning to my pink drivers: beware that the coupe has a very good trunk, but the convertible version is the complete opposite. To allow the canvas top to open up, the load compartment is uneven, very low and narrow, so travel light! And consider making several stops for fueling the 6-cylinder and its 400 horses, it’s very thirsty.
