7 Reasons Why Gumball 3000 Is The Ultimate Supercars Event
Now at its eighteenth edition, the Gumball 3000 has now established its own event-cult status, not only in the automotive level, but as a lifestyle point of reference. Copied and imitated by dozens of more or less similar formats, Maximillion Cooper’s creature captures every year more and more attention from fans, media and especially participants, who are lucky enough to experience a range of emotions that no other event is able to give, everything for good reasons, because part of the proceeds is donated to charity as always, in favor of the associations affiliated to the same Gumball. “Drive for good” then, but also a lot of fun and exclusivity to take part in a convoy of supercars that crosses the canonical 3000 miles in less than a week, bringing the team members for a walk around the world and offering them unique experiences such as track days, parties in the best nightclubs and the most important thing of them all: to become part of a big family, that does wait a year for the following edition of Gumball!
The 2016 edition welcomed about 150 cars in Dublin, which have cross Europe, passing through Edinburgh, London, Europa Park, Prague, Budapest, and then finishing the adventure in Romania, in Bucharest. Many personalities involved, with primarily the patron of the event alongside his beautiful wife Eve, at the wheel of an Aston Martin Vanquish, but also racing drivers like Josh Cartu (Ferrari F12 TdF), Oliver Webb, or the legendary David Hassellhoff at the wheel of a red Audi R8, Team Galag who brought a Batmobile-based Lamborghini and an AMG GT-S GT3-style, youtuber Tim Burton (Shmee150) driving an ABT RS6, the Car Throttle Team, etc. The reasons why it would be worthwhile to take part in the Gumball 3000 at least once in your life, would really be 3000 or so, but we consider that 7 are those for which it is worth putting a bit ‘of pennies away and thus be able to live the’ craziest adventure in the world than you could possibly experience at the wheel of your car.
1.The CARS: that could not be otherwise. Moreover, try to remain indifferent to a convoy of 150 cars, including supercars, hypercars, muscle cars and any car that lives in your dreams, all with extravagant wraps and always generous in giving voice to their engine.
2.The SUPERSTARS: starting out as a simple meeting for friends, the Gumball 3000, after 18 editions, has welcomed participants from all over the world. Most of them are athletes, actors, musicians, and as well as enriching the private parties, offer great entertainment and huge spectacle at each stage of the event.
3.The 3000 MILES: The fateful 3000 miles will be covered in about a week, covering different locations each year, in order to create and share always memorable experience to those who take part in the event.
4.CHARITY: if the cost of about € 50,000 may seem high, keep in mind that you will be literally covered with gadgets from sponsors, and that the registration fee includes all public transport, dinners and nights in the most exclusive hotels, plus a portion will be donated for the benefit of charities associated with Gumball. Drive for Good!
5.The PEOPLE: there are not only huge crowds while crossing the major cities, but enthusiasts, spotters and simple curious, will be at every strategic location along the way, being able to admire and photograph supercars and maybe even get a few autographs and selfies.
6.The LIVERIES: every year, as well as showing off their cars, participants are trying to capture the attention with the craziest liveries. How not to mention the Emoji GT-R released by Car Throttle?
7.GUMBALL MOMENTS: the slogan has always been “It’s not a race, it’s a rally”, but the Gumball has become much more. It is a real cult-event, which allows you to experience indescribable emotions, from crossing Countries in the midst of a supercars’ river, up to the possibility of private track days and, in the most glamorous way possible, enjoy life doing one of the things that a car enthusiast loves most – drive!
