Aston Martin DBS 59: Commissioned By “Q” To Celebrate Victory At Le Mans In ’59
Only 24 will be produced, just like the hours of the most legendary racing competition ever, the Le Mans 24 hours. To celebrate the historic 60-year-old 1-2 win, Aston Martin commissioned its “Q” department to create a very special edition of DBS Superleggera and so the DBS 59 is born.
To pay the right tribute to the legendary DBR1 we find a British Racing Green livery, accompanied by carbon fiber and elegant bronze details, such as for example the outline on the enormous front mouth or on the 21-inch wheels. The heritage flavor continues even inside the cockpit where a typically retro taste is maintained in the choice of colors and with the particular stitching, while the paddles on the steering wheel are finished in bronze too. And then there are those details that will be jealously kept tight by the lucky owners, such as the embroidery of the exact date and the 323 laps of the same race placed on the sun visor, not to mention accessories like a vintage replica helmet or the racing suit and gloves inspired by those of Carroll Shelby, driver who together with Roy Salvadori crossed the finish line first at the 24 hours back in 1959.
