Auto e Moto d’Epoca Padua 2021 | Celebrating Classic Motorsports and Great Italian Designers
“ITALY WINS THE RACES” AT AUTO E MOTO D’EPOCA 2021.
THIS YEAR IS DEDICATED TO OUR PASSION FOR CLASSIC MOTORSPORTS AND GREAT ITALIAN CAR DESIGNERS
Auto e Moto d’Epoca is celebrating its passion for classic motorsports in its 2021 edition. Four original exhibitions will come to life at the Padua Fair pavilions from 21st to 24th October, in collaboration with MAUTO | National Car Museum, ACI, ASI and important private collections. Explore the electric roots of Heritage Stellantis and Mercedes Benz, experience Morgan’s debut at AME and see the new R18 BMW models, amongst many others. AME 2021 will be the only large-scale European fair of its kind and the spotlight is shining brightly on it. Bookings have sky-rocketed for all sectors of the fair, important car manufacturers will be attending, as will international participants.
The vintage car fair is back this year with original suggestions and unique cars. The focus is firmly on racing cars, from every category and era. We begin with two exhibitions which share the same name. “Italy wins the races” is the fil rouge chosen by organisers to celebrate iconic Italian brands whose names are forever linked to car and motor-cycling races.
Great racing giants from the National Car Museum (MAUTO) collection will be on show: Ferraris, Lancias, Alfa Romeos, Fiats and Maseratis. A teaser? You can look forward to seeing a 1928 Maserati mod. 26B, the second racing vehicle made by the Maserati brothers at their workshops in Bologna. This car won the 1928 Italian Marche Championship thanks to the feats of pilots Ernesto Maserati, Baconin Borzacchini and Ajmo Maggi. Showcasing at Auto e Moto d’Epoca this year is also a 1952 500 F2 (designed by Engineer Aurelio Lampredi); Alberto Ascari won the World Champion title with this race car in 1952 and 1953.
The second exhibition, which comes from a private collection, is entirely dedicated to motorbikes. Gilera, Moto Guzzi, Morini, MV Agusta, Rumi, Benelli and many other brands from the golden age of national motorbikes including the Ducati 900SS, which led the Ducati brand to international acclaim. Expect to see the most unique display of motorbikes ever at Auto e Moto d’Epoca. Models on show include the 1956 Gilera 500 4 cylinders GP, six times winner of the world title between 1950 and 1957, and the 1952 MV Augusta 500 4 cylinders, winner of the first world championship in 1956, then eight subsequent world titles, the last of which was awarded in 1965.
After all, the race cars and motorbikes of the past are the focus of Auto e Moto d’Epoca 2021: there are so many models on sale in the huge market section; these will be showcased alongside models brought by museums, clubs, historic chapters, and the ACI Storico, which this year is focusing all its attention on the Tourism Velocity Championship. ASI | Automoclub Storico Italiano will also be joining alongside federated clubs in a refurbished and enlarged ASI Village in Pavilion 4 to celebrate the future-thinking design of the Bertone collection.
The Appia-Registro Appia Lancia Club is also celebrating 75 years of Vignale and the 100th anniversary of the Lancia Lambda, the first “modern” car, brought to the fair by the Lancia Club. The Appia Chapter will be present in Pavilion 2 in a Lancia-inspired square, alongside another four model-focused clubs.
For people who love electric cars, the fair heads back to the future: Heritage Stellantistells the story of its 50 years of research which have all led to the new 500 full electric. Mercedes-Benz is exhibiting the pioneering 190E Elektro alongside what it considers to be the peak of contemporary electrification: the EQS flagship model.
In keeping with the theme, there are many craftsmen ready to apply innovation and technology to an ancient craft, transforming vintage cars into electric vehicles. We are talking about Restomod, a slightly heterodox philosophy in the vintage world, but one which is conquering more and more supporters.
What else is new to the 2021 edition:
Joining Auto e Moto d’Epoca for the first time is Morgan Motor Company, the historic English brand which makes sports cars with an unmistakably retro vibe.
The new BMW Motorrad R18 models are rooted in the past, but have sustainability in mind.
The appeal of the evergreen Mercedes 190 SL remains timeless. On show in Padua, the exclusive model owned by Gina Lollobrigida.
Surprises are in store also in the spare parts sector. Padua has the largest European market for restoration support and this year Heritage Stellantis is exhibiting models it has refurbished and spare parts which are back in production.
Here is a teaser of a fair which banked on the emotions of its visitors and on its ability to communicate with and welcome all facets of the Classic world. We look forward to seeing you from 21st to 24th October, with 5,000 historic models, 1600 dealers, and 115,000 square metres for the first big European fair of the 2021/2022 season.
