HERITAGE’S CONSECRATION

Yesterdays and today’s enthusiasts have all come together to the 2017 edition of the Fiera Auto e Moto d’Epoca in Padua, where we took the opportunity to live from the inside one of the most important appointments for the historic cars industry and beyond. In fact, to enrich the halls in Padua, which is a point of reference for collectors, restorers and fans of ancient masterpieces, we find increasingly growing the presence of car makers who take the chance to match the models that have marked their history with new proposals and interesting previews.
Among the many names we find Jaguar, who increasingly wants on making a statement in the SUV segment, and right in front of our stand showcased the brand new E-Pace, F-Pace and a Formula E racing car, underlining its commitment to motorsport, always important for the brand. And then Mercedes with a large deployment of the most prestigious models, from the iconic 300 SL to the brand new AMG GTC. Pagani has brought two specimens, the Huayra Roadster showing the world how to pick up the witness of Zonda, placed right next to its older sister. Tesla represents the electric proposal par excellence, with a Model S and a Model X on display, while a few meters further there is the Audi area, with a TT-RS, R8 V10 Spyder and an interesting selection of racing cars that represent some of the most important moments for Audi Sport: including an R18 and a Quattro Pikes Peak. Peugeot presents the update of the 308 GTI and Citroen celebrates the Dyane.
Not to miss the huge corners dedicated to the big Italians, Maserati, Alfa Romeo and Abarth, who have poured their energies towards a group of selected models telling their history – a story made of immortal lines and an unmatched elegance. We at Auto Class, having collaborated for several years with the Padua Fair, we thought it was time to exhibit a small part of what we do every month. We have chosen Padua for several reasons, first of all the fact that it is able to unite “under the same roof” enthusiasts of historical and modern cars. In addition to exposing our magazine and meeting lots of people, both new faces and known ones, we have brought a selection of some of the best shots of the current year. An apparently simple yet elegant way to keep alive memories of exciting days, brought directly to the walls of your living room (or your garage), thanks to high quality prints. We have been able to present our photographic books, an aspect that we are increasingly focusing on, and which will play a key role in the coming year, while our friends at Ephedis presented the story of “La Incredibile Corsa” (The incredible race) written by Mattia Losi, telling the epic victory of Munari and Mannucci at the Montecarlo rally in ’72 (at the moment available only in Italian). Just the world rally champion Sandro Munari held an autograph session, choosing Auto Class as meeting point. Finally, Porsche could not miss the appointment, playing home here in Padua, exhibiting a 911 GT1 from the Stuttgart Museum, some historic models and a new hybrid Panamera, placed next to the victorious 919 racer that finished the Le Mans 24-hour in front of everyone else.
In addition to the official brands, there is ample space for private and specialist retailers, where we have finally found a number of interesting proposals at reasonable prices (not everything, of course) but we can safely say that many have been able to find the vintage car – or a spare part they were desperately looking for. Last but not least, modeling, gears and objects of all kinds, which culminated with the Bonhams auction, which has beaten pieces of rare beauty.
A more than positive experience, which has given us the opportunity to be even more concretely in contact with many readers who have come to say hello and has allowed us to meet new enthusiasts of beautiful cars and beautiful stories, those we try to tell each month, in the best possible way. We will definitely come back again next year, and talking about our books, you will soon have more information about the editorial projects that Auto Class Magazine has for 2018, where we have prefigured the goal of supporting our magazine with a series of prestigious and exclusive contents, bringing exclusive material thanks to the best photographers and contributors on International scale.
