235,000 square meters, 13 pavilions and over 7,000 vintage cars and motorbikes: these are the impressive numbers that have consecrated the fortieth edition of Auto & Moto d’Epoca as the absolute reference for vintage enthusiasts, in Italy and all over the borders. An extraordinary edition, especially taking into account that it was the first in Bologna, after leaving the beloved Padua. From Thursday 26th to Sunday 29th October the attention of collectors and enthusiasts returned to the heart of the Motor Valley, where the most renowned brands in the world gave birth to those models that have made and will continue to make generations of motorists dream.
Road cars, racing cars, concept cars and the inevitable youngtimers, obviously accompanied by some new proposals that make the event attractive even to a younger audience, thus allowing us to have a gigantic window on what the automotive heritage is, a treasure that becomes increasingly important to safeguard. There was also plenty of space for motorbikes, with a pavilion entirely dedicated for two wheels and which finally reaffirmed the importance of vintage motorbikes as a lifestyle and concept of freedom in close contact with the road. The public, who came from the whole peninsula, but in large numbers from all over Europe and also from the United States, thus had an amazing overview of those models that have marked history, exploiting the added value of a fair of this size with an infinite variety of models on display, obviously ready to find a new home.
More neat from an exhibition point of view and more practical to get around, these are the two main ingredients that have characterized the evolution of AME, an event which in my opinion however requires at least two days to be fully experienced. Which is not a negative point at all, given that thanks to the improved space, in addition to the cars (and motorbikes) on display, you always get the pleasure of meeting new and old friends and continuing to experience this annual rendezvous as a meeting place for whose call is impossible to ignore. Auto & Moto d’Epoca was full of guests, presentations and exhibitions, but above all it was the fair for enthusiasts, those who allowed this event to grow exponentially and become the ultimate vintage cars show in Italy.
Finally, after feasting your eyes on dream cars and perhaps finding the deal you’ve been looking for, you can literally get lost in the area dedicated to spare parts and models, an ideal stop for those who don’t intend to return home empty hands, without necessarily putting a real car in the garage. AME not only reconfirms itself as the best playground for slightly overgrown children, but manages to achieve incredible growth in terms of quality, allowing enthusiasts to continue to nourish their love for vintage motors through a an unmissable weekend destined to be even more successful, year after year.
Here’s what patron Mario Baccaglini said about this sparkling first edition in Bologna, which also marked the fortieth Auto & Moto d’Epoca appointment:
“The move to Bologna was crowned by a surprising success for exhibitors and public and by the confirmation that the culture and market of historic cars and motorbikes involve a vast community of enthusiasts, both Italian and foreign. Thanks to immense and coordinated work, it was possible to bring one of a kind quality examples at Auto e Moto d’Epoca, capable of satisfying the tastes and passion of professionals and young collectors. Great satisfaction also for two wheels, to which for the first year we have dedicated an entire pavilion, with sensational models and exclusive goodies. The important presence of the new generations and foreigners leads us to recognize Auto e Moto d’Epoca as a crossroads between Europe and the Motor Valley, and positions us as the most significant fair on the European scene”.
