Back To The Past
“For a while, me and my boyfriend Fulvio, were looking for a of fairly low cost car, but aggressive at the right point.. A small hot car, suitable for enthusiasts gatherings, ideal for old-style trips, such as those that we love to do with friends on Sunday, in complete peace of mind.
After spending whole evenings to look around on various websites, trying to find something interesting, finally, during January 2013, we hit an announce, in which a guy was offering for sale the “hot-hatch” we were looking for: a Peugeot 205 1.9 GTi.
Me and Fulvio knew it was the car for us and so we have worked to find the best that the market could offer. The research was quite long and difficult; there are few remaining specimens, fewer still completely original. Do not forget that this is a car with 30 years on the back, protagonist of rallies and races of the past. Most of the “Millenove” (1.9cc) had their engines changed, or deeply tuned, not to mention the bumps and scratches present on the body, rim chipped or worn interior.
But in the end, we found one, almost perfect, which now sleeps in our garage, waiting for the next meeting. White in color, with original plates, has well preserved leather interior and carpet in excellent condition, uncut steering wheel and seats with red and black stitching intact. Even the body is excellent, with no signs which often, cars already dated have.
Small, but very lively, under its bonnet lurks a 1.9-liter petrol engine with four-cylinder, electronic fuel injection, which delivers 130 horsepower.
Due to its size (it is less than four meters long) and its light weight (under 900 kilos), is very light and fun to drive. For this, the 205 GTi is still chosen by young people who are facing the world of rallying, for its agility and unique sprint.
I am very happy to own this car, a true “myth” that populated our dreams of youth.
And it is also good to see that during our meetings with the “Millenove”, the “boys of the eighties” and not only, look at us with a smile and a hint of nostalgia.”.
