At 2pm, the first of the 47 cars arrived on the Terrasses du Soleil in Monte-Carlo. A remarkable location for the pleasure of visitors and passionates of automobile, that were numerous to come.
Everybody was waiting for this moment. The ride in the countryside to see these works of art on the roads of the Côte d’Azur. The owners of the cars drove 34 km on the winding roads. In the middle of the ride, the collectors could enjoy a picnic at the Domaine du Mont Leuz. Early in the afternoon the drivers made their way back to the Principality for the meeting with the jury. A moment for sharing and telling stories about the cars. When there is a concours Elégance, there is always a jury. The mission of this group of personalities is to decide between the most beautiful cars in the world.
This year the jury of Elégance et Automobile à Monte-Carlo is chaired by Sandra Button, the president of the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance. The American is surrounded with Lorena Baricalla (Monégasque ballerina, singer, actress and passionate of automobile), Lorenzo Ramaciotti (former Group Chief of Design for Pininfarina and former Group Chief of Design for FCA) and Thierry Boutsen (former Formula 1 driver). From the oldest one – a Mercedes 28/95 Phaeton from 1914, to the most recent one – a Maserati Sciadipersa Cabriolet from 2019, every car paraded on the place du Casino de MonteCarlo in front of the jury, sitting at the Hôtel de Paris.
On Sunday at 11am, the 47 participants joined the place du Palais Princier for the Prize Giving Ceremony. 9 winners have been named by the jury. A special prize was given to the Lancia Stratos Zero of Phillip Sarofim.
The participants were congratulated by H.S.H. the Princess Charlène and were later welcomed at the Prince’s Palace. It is on this prestigious touch that Elégance et Automobile à Monte-Carlo ended.
