GENRE: action
Let’s face it, in any action-packed film we all expect to find all the classic clichés and the same goes when it comes to a car as the protagonist. This is not the case with “Black Lightning”, a 2009 Russian movie, which manages to dispense pure fun thanks to convincing characters and telling a story that, although it does not bring anything absolutely unpredictable, keeps glued to the screen from start to finish, also showing successful special effects and a plot with a strong moral depth. The young protagonist is called Dima and sees his life change when he discovers that the 1966 GAZ 21 Volga received as a gift is able to fly. At that point he realizes that he can use this power to help people in need and win the heart of the girl he loves. It is precisely this constant reference to simplicity and the fact that we should not dwell on appearances that makes the film a truly valid product, not to mention that we had never been so familiar with a GAZ, let alone see it fly between the buildings of Moscow. No spoilers, but in the end it will be GAZ 1 – Mercedes-Benz 0.
