BMW M2 CS: Is This The Ultimate Performance Car?
This is pretty serious. Go on. The latest incarnation of the exceptional M2 is ready, but it will obviously be produced as a limited series – 2,200 units only available in Misano Blue – and for sale with a starting price of € 100,900. Powered by a twin-turbo 6-cylinder engine displacing 450 horsepower, the M2 CS has a maximum torque of 550 Nm, available from 2,350 to 5,500 rpm, exactly like its big sister M4 Competition. Among the various bits there is the introduction of a manual gearbox (as standard), which despite losing a few hundredths of a second while lapping the track – or during the home-office blast – will be able to elevate the involvement of one of purists’ most beloved and desired sports car.
4 seconds on the 0 to 100 kph for the version with automatic gearbox, 4.2 seconds if equipped with manual transmission and 280 kph top speed for both, with a weight of almost one and a half tons and a chassis even more devoted to squeeze all the sportiness of which the “little” BMW is impregnated and towards which it has no inhibition, as can be seen from its mirror caps, rear diffuser and aerodynamic appendages in carbon fiber, but also from the engine bonnet made in CFRP and equipped with new air vents. Then there are dedicated 19″ wheels that fit Michelin Sport Cup2 tires. On a dynamic level, the M2 CS features custom tailpipes, Adaptive M suspensions and M Sport braking system with 400 mm discs at front and 380 mm at the back, respectively with 6 and 4 pistons. The interior also smells of racing, thanks to the Competition seats in leather and Alcantara with specific patterns and obviously other carbon all over the place. Carbon-ceramic brakes are available on request. Is this the ultimate performance car? We’re pretty sure about this.
