BMW: The 8 Series Comes Back With The M850i xDrive
On the occasion of the 24 hours of Le Mans, BMW unveiled the new 8 Series to the world, finally in a definitive form and with one of the most performing models based on the new twin-turbo V8 engine of the house. The M850i xDrive brings back to life the historic flagship model of the brand, which after 20 years waves goodbye to the 6 Series, going on even more exclusive territories and with even more desire to offer maximum comfort, technology and performance.
Wide use of carbon fiber and magnesium make the structure and panels of the 8 Series one of the key points of this new model, which is presented in its variant pushed by the twin-turbo V8 that delivers 523hp and 750Nm of torque between 1800 and the 4600 rpm, with the help of an updated version of the 8-speed Steptronic automatic transmission and the all-wheel drive system we have recently seen on the new M5. It takes just 3.6 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 100 kph while its maximum speed is 250 per hour, with the classic electronic limiter, which will obviously be disengaged with the Performance package. In the coming months we will also discover the other models of the 8 range, including the convertible version and the upcoming M8.
