Ceirano: The Last of its Kind
At the 2013’s “Auto & moto d’epoca” in Padua, we met Alessandro: lucky enthusiast and owner of the last Ceirano in the world. He has told something more about his very special car.
“This car was a real source of history, as well as being unique because it was built by the inventors of Italian cars, way before Fiat. We became aware of its history by some people living in the place of origin of the car itself: the first owner was a Countess, and this fact was told by a child, now a 85 years old gentleman, who remember her on this unique and very luxurious car, she used to travel on board with her personal driver. Unfortunately our other researches, have been in vain, as the flood of Alexandria (ITA), created extensive damage to the archives of PRA. The car, which has been stored for decades, received in 1973 a full restoration, obtaining approval and the historic gold plate. Then, over time, it also won several conservation/vintage competitions, up to the year 2012, when it received a professional restoration, which lasted about a year: a complete and original process. Times were not excessively long and this is due precisely to the fact that the car was well preserved, without even a small detail missing. The interior is beautifully maintained and we can still feel the smell of the previous century. Mechanically, the car is good, its engine is full and aggressive, a 1.500cc still capable of reaching 100 kph. This special vehicle could take part in the Mille Miglia and then, it should be emphasized that the car is equipped with a very important mechanism: the brake assist system, another great invention of Mr. Ceirano. Causing pressure on the pedal, automatically, a valve actuates the brake assist which helps strongly during braking. Its line, with the particular front end and a very low center of gravity, reveals a more sleek and sporty shape than other models of the time, which were more squared. The presentation at the Fair in Padua in 2013 has attracted interest from renowned National and International collectors and enthusiasts of the brand. We had also confirmation that the only remaining specimen in the world is this one. “
