Chevrolet Camaro IROC-Z
BUDGET CARS
Possible religions are 2. You can’t love both and, basically, if you’re really on the side of the first, the greatest moment of joy is overtaking the second. It’s all about Mustang or Camaro. The eternal rivalry that divides the two American pony cars has deep roots and with each new model, have always disputed and divided their portion of the market, always passionate and loyal, despite some disappointing models like those of the ’90s.
The “budget car” that we present today is branded Chevrolet and is very special, because in fact, at a bargain cost of just € 16,000, let you take home a pony car with a generous and unmistakable 5.7-liter V8. I’ve always considered the Mustang as the car for the “heroes” and the Camaro or Charger, to name another, like that of the “villains” (“Hazzard” excluded). The Camaro IROC-Z, born in 1985, is one of the best sports alternatives of the model. Named in honor of the “Race of Champions”, it offered a body kit and a mechanical package richer and better than its other variants. The formula is the one that would put you sideways even in the middle of a huge straight: front engine, rear wheel drive, 220-hp and 400 Nm of torque, run by a gearbox that could be automatic or manual. No traction control to get in the way between you and her. An extremely plasticky and typically 80s interior, three-spoke steering wheel and four seats, with the rear passengers not so sacrificed like you could think, thanks to the large tailgate glass which make the cabin more luminous. Choose it in good condition, of course. And with shoulder branded tires. The right soundtrack, the right trip and you will be “wildly free”.
