Chevrolet Corvette C3 Stingray: Angry Lady
What’s that?
I wonder why we live in the firm belief that a car should be ignorant, in order to give those emotions to which today’s performance cars, so precise but sterile, struggle to transmit. On the list of most wanted you should not and can’t miss an American car and if you tell me “USA”, I immediately think about the legendary Corvette. More streamlined and sporty than the cousin Mustang, deeply iconic despite the ups and downs of some models (C4 and C5), we are talking about the C3 Stingray, and more cool than that, you can’t get anything in the world.
How does it drive?
Produced from 1969 to 1976, the C3 Stingray, emphasized that macho and sexy look of one of the most beautiful sports coupe ever. Its noisy V8 offered a fairly broad range of horses, which stood around an average power of 430 horses. Getting on board is like holding the hand of a beautiful woman, much more mature of you: if immediately you’re intimidated, then she almost makes you feel invincible. When you start the engine and give life to its V8, it’s like kissing her, that beautiful woman. She, with her strengths and weaknesses, leads you to be driven with a heavy foot, hungry of speed and torque, but do not forget a weight of about 1 ton and a half and too soft suspension.
Most Wanted or not?
You can’t die without ever having driven a Corvette and if you have to drive one, the C3 Stingray is the one on which you should sit your back. Obviously, you should not die at the wheel, so you have to make good use of its 640Nm of torque (on average) and performance worthy of modern sports cars, otherwise the lady gets angry and punches you as hard as it gets. For her, years have passed and she acquired fascination and respect. Besides being one of our #mostwanted, the Stingray is one of the most beautiful and significant cars in history.
