CHIANTIGIANA
CHIANTIGIANA
Never as in this case, the departure and arrival locations need no introduction. After having dedicated due attention to discovering the incredible artistic heritage of Florence, our itinerary begins heading south, towards Greve di Chianti, the birthplace of the explorer Amerigo Vespucci. Two roads also pass here which have become strategic over the centuries, namely the Valdarno and the Val di Pesa.
Location: Florence – Siena (Italy)
Type: panoramic road
Length: 177 km
Continuing along the Chiantigiana we reach Panzano, a UNESCO heritage site and shortly after we leave the SR222 in favor of a more intimate route – the SP2 – with a spectacular succession of hills covered with vineyards and centuries-old woods. In this area, it will happen to make some extra stops to admire the many castles and let yourself be carried away by the delicate sounds and smells that fill one of the most typical landscapes depicting the Tuscany region.
We then pass Radda in Chianti and arrive in Barbischio, delighting our palate with local delicacies and hospitality, then time to visit the medieval village of Lucignano and finally conclude the journey in the fascinating city of Siena.
