COL DE VENCE
COL DE VENCE
This is one of those roads that literally get you as soon as you put your feet (or wheels) on it. We’re not talking about a long or wide piece of road, but the naked-like vegetation all around, the good visibility and the spirited pace it lets you undertake, make the Col de Vence one of the best driving roads you can possibly find.
Location: Vence, FRANCE
Elevation: 962m
Type: winding mountain road
By the way, the Col de Vence is not even 1,000m, but its particular flora and the fact of acting as a driveway for another pretty iconic French road, give this mountain road the function as a proper driving enhancer. Visibility is good, you have a good bunch of hairpins and fast corners too, but in certain points the road is very narrow and forces you to slow down the pace, especially if you find traffic, which sometimes can be awful. We’re not far from Cagnes-sur-Mer (that’s where you’ll have to point North in order to come here) and once reached the summit you’ll find a faster section useful to unleash some horsepower. Plus, the Col de Vence can bring you to three different and equally amazing French roads: the Route de Gentelly, the Val du Var or even the Route Napoleon. The choice is yours then.
