COLLE DELL’AGNELLO
COLLE DELL’AGNELLO
The French call it Col Agnel, but in both cases we’re talking about the third highest mountain pass in Europe. This road has a truly breathtaking scenery on both sides, with seemingly endless fields that create – together with naked rocks and winding strips of asphalt – an amazing and unique scenario for those who climb here, no matters if by car, motorbike or bike.
Location: Pontechianale (ITA) – Molines-en-Queyras (FRA)
Elevation: 2.748m
Type: mountain road
It’s not just a simple driving road. There is a whole bunch of hairpin corners and for the most part, the width of the road itself is very narrow and forces to slow down the pace and maybe enjoy the scenery. The mountain pass has been inaugurated in 1973 and then held numerous stages of International cycling races as well as being a pretty interesting place for amateurs (and pro) astronomers who can easily reach the summit and behold nature’s spectacles upon their eyes, but also on the ways down.
