Cupra Welcomes Two New Models To The Line-up
Two years after the official debut of the brand, Cupra continues with its intention to characterize its models for a particularly sporty attitude. After the Ateca, it’s time to launch two new models – the Leon and Leon SportsTourer – all at the same time as the new headquarter, aptly called Cupra Garage. As in the case of the SUV, both variants of the Leon have a more aggressive look than their Seat branded counterpart, with a new front bumper, increased air intakes and 18 or 19-inch wheels.
Coming during autumn 2020, there will be the possibility of opting for the petrol version or for a plug-in hybrid, called Leon eHybrid and available on both body variants. The latter will be powered by a 150 hp 1.4 turbo, which combined with an electric unit will ensure remarkable performance without any kind of compromise. The petrol units, on the other hand, are equipped with a 2.0 turbo available with 3 different power steps – 245 hp and 370 Nm / 300 hp and 400 Nm / 310 hp and 400 Nm – all mated to a double clutch gearbox with seven gears and front-wheel drive with electronically controlled self-locking differential. The SportsTourer, only in the 310 hp version, has instead all-wheel drive.
Let’s go back to performance, where for the 300 hp one we have a 0 to 100 kph of just over five seconds, with a maximum speed of 250 per hour. There is a lot of substance on the Cupra and in fact we also find a specific calibration of the suspensions and a dedicated Brembo braking system with 370 mm front discs.
