Diabolik | Cinema
Non car-guys recognize a black Jaguar E-Type as the “Diabolik’s car”. And how to blame ‘em, after all the 1968 film directed by Mario Bava brought to the masses one of the most iconic and legendary models of all time, the E-Type. But Diabolik is much more than an anti-James Bond in black tights, loyal to his fiancée Eva and dedicated in robbery concerning any treasure around Clerville. Born as a comic thanks to the pencil of the Giussani sisters, he is a bandit who, thanks to his proverbial cunning, immediately manages to win the favor of the public, dragging us one theft after the other in the frantic search for the ultimate heist.
TITLE: Diabolik
YEAR: 1968
DIRECTED BY: Mario Bava
LENGHT: 1h 45 min
GENRE: action, crime
Diabolik, the bandit always ready to take risks to woo his beautiful beloved Eva Kant, is obviously associated with what is considered the most beautiful car of all time: the Jaguar E-Type. However in the movie there is more than one and unlike what is commonly believed by most, it does not necessarily be black. The film revolves around a daring series of thefts that sees the police forces led by Inspector Ginko, come to terms with the powerful mob boss Ralph Valmont, in order to capture Diabolik and his partner. Compelling and with all the traits that made the comic series so successful, the 1968 film has all the necessary ingredients to be called a classic, a real shame that it did not have the following it deserved at the time, but we trust that the new Manetti Bros movie can somehow pick up where Mario Bava left off our favorite outlaws.
