EUGANEAN HILLS (COLLI EUGANEI)
That of the Euganean Hills is a mountainous area consisting of about a hundred reliefs whose height never exceeds 600 meters. Its peculiar geological history has made possible the formation of an extraordinary botanical and faunal biodiversity, which since 1989 brought to its safeguard by establishing the first Regional Park of Veneto. A dense network of paths and hiking trails allows you to explore the area and enter even more closely with the nature that characterizes it.
Location: Veneto, Italy
Type: mountain/hill road
Length:
Elevation: below 600 meters above sea level
Our itinerary virtually covers the entire perimeter of the Hills, allowing detours that lead the tourist towards the heart of the area, so as not to miss one bit of the food and wine magic of the place and at the same time not just driving on the main road, but discovering glimpses surrounded by greenery and small villages divided by numerous curves and postcard landscapes. The main tourist attraction in the area is the basin of the Spas, a renowned destination for stays dedicated to wellness and relax. The salty-bromine-iodine waters, which flow in a large area on the north-eastern edge of the Euganean Hills, have unique thermomineral properties used for both therapeutic and aesthetic treatments.
Starting point set in Abano Terme, the main center of the Euganean thermal area. After a few kilometers we reach Montegrotto Terme and then take the SP25 towards Battaglia Terme. After enjoying a few smooth bends and a deserved visit to the Castle of Monselice, it’s time to come back to the SP6 towards Este, with the beautiful Cathedral of Santa Tecla and the precious artistic heritage kept inside. The SP89 for Vo is fun and runs fast, but before reaching the final destination in Teolo, we allow ourselves another detour, first on the SP101 and then on the SP98 and SP89, where more kilometers of guaranteed fun await
