Ferrari 296 GTB | News
Here it is, it’s the new Ferrari. The one we did not expect, the 296 GTB. It is a 2-seater berlinetta, with a 6-cylinder mid-rear engine of 663 hp. It is a V6 – the first in history for Ferrari – which however is also combined with a 167 horsepower electric engine, for a total power of 830 hp.
There are many references to the prancing horse’s past, first of all that of the legendary Dino, not to mention the soft lines sculpted by the wind and resembling the prestigious SF90 Stradale, immediately bringing to mind the iconic 250 LM. There is a racing spirit, but the focus is undoubtedly aimed at the future, with an engine that will become a reference point for further models to come. The 296 GTB is a Plug-In Hybrid and therefore is rechargeable, allowing a 100% electric range of about 25 km, while offering pure F1-like figures, thanks to an aerodynamics that does not need to extreme its forms in order to offer the perfect balance between performance and drivability. The turbocharged V6 is combined with an 8-speed DCT gearbox and a careful study dedicated to the sound will make the driving experience something visceral. Finally, for those wishing to emphasize the performance side, the Assetto Fiorano set-up is provided and particularly suitable for use on the track, but still usable on the road as well. The 296 GTB, arriving in early 2022, will have a starting price set at € 296,000.
