Ferrari 812 Superfast: The Ultimate Supercar – End of The Story
The F12 Berlinetta would certainly remained in our top ten (and will remain there anyway) for at least 10 more years, but Ferrari does not want to take for granted its leadership in the world of supercars. So it feeds to the press the very first pictures and specifications of a car that is already making our head turn, the 812 Superfast!
Worthy successor to the previous front engine GT, the Superfast evolves the design of the F12 and the very special F12 TdF, even embracing the new inputs displayed with the GTC4 Lusso, but what is most striking is that in a period of fierce downsizing, under the powerful and muscular bonnet, we keep finding a naturally aspirated V12, in this case a 6.5cc with 790 horses. There is an even faster 7-speed automatic transmission (although it may seem impossible), an even more brutal torque delivery (maximum torque at about 718Nm) and a driving feel that promises to catapult the driver over the moon as soon as the right foot meet the gas pedal. The first Ferrari with electric power steering, will also feature numerous upgrades as far as technology, and we are referring not only to the entertainment, but rather in terms of car-road connectivity and human-machine sensibility, like for example the SSC (Side Slip Control) and the Virtual Short Wheelbase (four wheel steering). It takes just 2.9 seconds to go from 0 to 100 and you can make it scream up to 340 per hour. Its name is a clear homage to the glories of the past and we are referring to the 500 Superfast from the mid-60s, and with 800 horses there was really no more appropriate tribute than this.
