Ferrari Portofino: The Ultimate Grand Tourer
The presentation of a new model by Ferrari is always an event, and the fact that the California T’s substitute does not only present new lines, but a brand new name, it just makes our ears ring – here’s the brand new Ferrari Portofino.
To celebrate one of the most picturesque and exclusive location of Italy, we now have a folding metal roof grand tourer offering outstanding performance thanks to an evolution of the 3.8 twin-turbo V8, capable of delivering 600 horsepower at 7500 rpm and 760Nm of torque from 3000 to 5250 rpm. To differentiate the newcomer from the California T, however, we find a more sharp design, which is based on the styling of the bigger sisters GTC4Lusso and 812 Superfast, with the right attention and proportion for the roof opening mechanism and an optimal compromise that is able to make the Portofino the perfect 2+2 GT for a seaside cruise, or the deadly animal that will give you the purest driving experience of your life.
For the first time on a front-engined V8 Ferrari we find electric power steering, while to handle such power there is a third generation electronic differential – many, many upgrades that like lightning have made the Portofino one of the undisputed stars of the Frankfurt Motor Show. Then, from the updated cockpit, you can experience an acceleration of 0 to 100 kph in just 3 seconds and a half and reach 320 per hour with no effort at all.
