Ford Focus ST: The Angry Sister
The new generation of the Ford Focus begins to tickle the interest of those who do not want to give up performance, not even in a car with features and the abilities suited to everyday life. The new Focus ST, the step that precedes the most hardcore RS (which will come later), maintains the front wheel drive layout, while everything else suggests that it no longer wants to be pointed as the kind little sister of the sports range. The Ecoboost increases its size and goes from 2-liters to 2.3-liters with a power of 280 horses and 420Nm of torque. Mate this with a 6-speed manual transmission with rev-matching technology – the same introduced with the new Mustang – and you’ll have faster shifts and a 0 to 100 kph in less than 6 seconds. In addition, there is also the possibility of opting for a 7-speed automatic transmission.
With the Performance Pack we also have a system called CCD (Continuously Controlled Damping), which, every 2 milliseconds, has the task of monitoring the suspension height, the body position and the steering and braking inputs in order to adjust the damping and achieve better dynamic performance. Greater care also for the interiors, as already introduced on the most traditional models of the range, while the more generous dimensions of the body, are able to mix well thanks to a sportier suspension setting and more generous sizes for the wheels, available for example in 18 or 19 inches.
