Ford Mustang Mach-E | News
There is no doubt that Ford could have flagged its first electric SUV with a different name, but this also represents the ideal way to connect the past (and present) with the future of the brand. It’s the Mustang Mach-E and is the all-electric answer of the blue oval, a coupe-SUV characterized by a distinctly sporty line and which comes with a starting price of $ 44,000 in the US (€ 39,800 here in the old continent).
Other than its look that recalls the stylistic features of the new models of the company, the Mustang Mach-E follows the main features of the 0-emission competition, such as the absence of air intakes on the front hood and the double luggage compartment (front and rear), offering a total of 502 liters (100 at front and 402 at the back), which can further abound in case you have the chance to take down the rear seats. To push it we have two lithium ion batteries, for a capacity of 75.7 and 98.8 kWh, enough to allow something like 600 km of eco-friendly drive. The electric Ford world keeps the pace and in fact has already positioned 120,000 FordPass Charging Network charging stations in Europe alone.
Having eliminated all expectations of hearing the classic V8 of America’s most beloved pony, know that the Mustang Mach-E has different power steps, with the entry level rear-wheel drive that guarantees 258 hp of power and 415 Nm of torque, with 450 km of mileage, while if you opt for Extended Range batteries you will have 285 hp and 600 km of overall range. The AWD four-wheel drive is combined with two electric motors, with a 258 hp unit, 565 Nm and 420 km of mileage and the respective Extended Range reaches 337 hp good for 540 km. The sportier Mach-E GT will have 465 hp and 830 Nm of torque, always with four-wheel drive, accelerating from 0-100 kph in less than 4 seconds. Different argument for the other “engines”, where more attention is paid to preserving the energy of the batteries, with top speeds at around 180 kph.
The Mustang Mach-E does not just intend to reduce emissions, but also brings with it a technological background that will delight the most hardcore technology lovers, with a 15.5” display through which to connect their smartphone, something also useful in order to replace the keyless system of the car, in case of failure. The First Edition will arrive in late 2020 and the possibilities for customization are extremely wide. Put it this way, even if you hate its name, you’ll love what it will be able to offer.
