Former racing driver Brent Magna ends up in the crosshairs of a mysterious criminal organization with his wife being held hostage. He has a few hours to steal a car and set the city on fire, in order to allow the criminals to take possession of a rich loot. This is the plot of “Getaway”, a film that exudes action from start to finish, leaving aside realism and plot twists in favor of 90 minutes that are quite predictable, but still capable of making you spend an amusing evening in front of the TV.
TITLE: Getaway
YEAR: 2013
DIRECTED BY: Courtney Solomon
LENGHT: 1h 30 min
GENRE: action
The protagonist is Ethan Hawke, but the real star of the film is the 2007 Ford Shelby GT 500 SVT. Made indestructible and targeted by police and criminals, it’s all Brent can rely on, at least until he stumbles upon a young girl who will be able to turn the tide of the desperate situation. The film, albeit mediocre, has an interesting photograph, launching the viewer into the action without necessarily wondering too much about some details left to chance, such as the almost infinite petrol and virtually absent road blocks. “Getaway” is still one of the many movies that see a Mustang in the spotlight, adrenaline-pumping chases and numerous stunts that manage to forgive a predictable and extremely simple plot.
