Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow | Cinema
Hot rods, music and a haunted mansion. These are the main ingredients of the 1959 film directed by William J. Hole Jr., which depicts the adventures of a group of greasers who defy boredom and the system behind the wheel of their hot rods. The turning point comes when chased from their club house, they have to move to an abandoned mansion probably haunted by an evil spirit. To inaugurate the new headquarters, they organize no less than a masquerade party. The ghost is thus free to mingle with the gang of young rebels.
TITLE: Ghost of Dragstrip Hollow
YEAR: 1959
DIRECTED BY: William J. Hole Jr.
LENGHT: 1h 5min
GENRE: comedy, adventure
The movie, just over 60 minutes long, manages to create a mix of action and suspense, all continuously imbued with comic traits and the numerous musical parts, so popular in the cinema of the late 50s. The space dedicated to cars will also be reduced, in particular to the clandestine race between two girls in one of the most cinematically famous spots in Los Angeles and to the frantic climb that sees an elderly lady at the wheel, but one immediately gets in tune with the various characters – talking parrot included – and with the lightness of a story that, even if it does not represent a masterpiece, offers an hour of fun.
