Gordon Murray T.50S Niki Lauda | News
Master Gordon Murray is here again after the sleepless nights spent since he presented his latest creation, the T.50. This version pays tribute to the Austrian Formula 1 champion – hence the name T.50S Niki Lauda – as the ultimate representation of how every single detail of a car can be dedicated to maximum aerodynamic and performance purpose. A monster of power, with its naturally aspirated Cosworth 3.9-liter V12 that from 663 horsepower goes to 735 hp, reaching 12,000 rpm and with a featherweight of just 852 kg (-134 kg compared to before), the Niki Lauda undergoes targeted upgrades to the Inconel exhaust and to the transmission, which from a manual box becomes a more track-focused 6-speed sequential gearbox.
The tribute to the Austrian driver pays homage to the triumph he achieved at the wheel of the Brabham BT46B, the single-seater on which Murray himself worked back in the days. The T.50S Niki Lauda also amazes for a vertical load that goes up to 1,500 kg, something really absurd and which guarantees cornering speeds that upset the concept of downforce, while a carbon ceramic system mounted on 18” forged magnesium wheels and slick tires make possible to reach 3.5g during deceleration.
The driver’s seat is located in the center, as on the McLaren F1. Then the T.50S will be produced in only 25 units (such as the victories obtained by the cars designed by Murray in F1), for about 3.6 million Euros, a figure that never as in this case seems the only negligible detail. Absolute masterpiece.
