Hulkenberg – Between one GP and the other, wins the 24h of Le Mans
Ended a few hours ago, the endurance race for excellence has seen Team Porsche stop the domain that Audi has imposed in recent years. After only returning into the competition last year, the team from Stuttgart has assembled all the ingredients necessary not only for gaining a fantastic victory, but to complete a stunning double win. The #19 Porsche 919 Hybrid led by Nico Hulkenberg, Earl Bamber and Nick Tandy has completed a flawless race, giving the 17th success to their team, closing in parade with the trio Bernhard/Webber/Hartley (1 lap gap). A long and tough battle against the Audi R18 driven by Fassler/Lotterer/Treluyer, who suffered mechanical problems, being unable to continue the series of victories achieved by the four rings’ House. Toyota and Nissan out of the game, with the rookie Nissan, grounding kilometers, looking to find more competitiveness in the coming years. In LMP2, Team KCMG has dominated thanks to a perfect weekend of Howson/Bradley/Lapierre, while in GTE-Pro, where Porsche have instead suffered so many problems of reliability, the victory went to the Corvette driven by Taylor/Milner/Gavin.
Despite the spectacular race lasted the usual 24 hours, once completed, it has already left the desire to see the cars whiz at de la Sarthe again. But we have to wait 365 days. We start the countdown!
