I Wanna Be A Crazyrunner!
(Thanks to Vittorio – SupercarSafari’s President)
“Stay Hungry, Stay Foolish” – Apple’s crazy founder said, and if we had no doubt about CrazyRun’s madness, we never imagined that the continuous series of clues, traps, riddles and km [so many km] would lead us to a two-day of forced diet. Yes, you read right, not a minute to have lunch if you wanted to place yourself in a good position and have the time to create some chaos dressed like Emirs accompanied by middle eastern music thundering from the Bose speakers of a Porsche Turbo.
But let’s take a step back. I met Giulio and David about 6 months ago, they talked to me about their creation with great transport, in their words I breathed emotions that invade me every time I talk about SupercarSafari, I felt the commitment, passion, dedication as they enjoy to make people go crazy. I accepted their invitation, I dragged with me one of my closest friends and a group of other five crews [in perfect SupercarSafari style] ready to defy the conventions throwing themselves headlong into the CrazyRun. Porsche, Maserati, Ferrari, Audi – as always when we move, we want to get it right, in fact we also created the Instagram @TheSultans30 account not to clog our main one @SupercarSafari.
Saturday morning, some rain gives way to a timid sun and our “TheSultans” team reach the first CheckPoint in Monteriggioni: CRAZY! Respected professionals dressed up like the BeachBoys, a camouflage truck came from Bolzano at no more than 45 kph and now ready for everything, two Roman consuls in tunic with a 981 GTS instead of their Chariot, and so on and so forth. This is only a CrazyRun’s glance. But we do not have time to greet those present that we are left with a jar for urine in hand, in search of a living fly before moving to the frantic search for pine candy up to a annoying Gnome, which did not wanted to be found. Everyone was happening with supercars and absurd cars darting from side to side. Among a clue and the other, convinced to spend the night in Tuscany, we find ourselves in Milano Marittima and above all without having had lunch, madly shot by incredulous people which found themselves in front of two Emirs right there in Romagna. Just enough time to have a couple of pictures, washing the car [waiting for the storm to come a few minutes later], eating some good local food and it’s time for the mega party at the Pineta and here SupercarSafari takes the first prize for having spent the most at the private room alongside team Batman! Sleep now becomes the only goal, but the alarm sounds early the following morning, and soon we leave for some more crazy stuff, including a prayer to the god of Methane and a time trial in the wet without exclusion for some good oversteer. Delirium in Piazzale Michelangelo for the arrival of the Sultans [some say they were looking to buy a Fiorentina …] and then we end welcomed by a huge crows in San Miniato where the crazy dream of these two days gives way to reality: we are back in Tuscany, Qatar is far away, but we, TheSultans and the other SupercarSafari Teams we can only sign up for next year’s edition.
SupercarSafari will be there and we will win EVERYTHING … or at least we’re gonna buy the victory!

Crazy, riotous, inimitable – these are the first three words that come to my mind while reading the story of Vittorio, after having taken part at the edition number 4 of the CrazyRun and these are the same words that Giulio and David, creators of this crazy, riotous and inimitable event tell us. In fact, at least another hundred good words would easly come to mind, but in the end no words do justice to these two days so unique that once finished will leave you with an empty feeling comparable only to the season finale of “Games Thrones”. As you now already know this is not a simple rally, not the classical driving tour and not even less a treasure hunt, that of the CrazyRun is a format that has absolutely no equal and that will capture and catapult you into a vortex of excitement, fun, spasmodic search for clues in order to continue your race (regularity race, of course), until the following checkpoint and thus allow your team to move forward, earn points, and try everything not to come back home with empty hands. Fundamental part of the event are not only the cars, but also the participants and their disguises, which make them the real center of the event. Arrived at this point we assume that you know well what it is – the media success and the great curiosity orbiting around the CR is now something consolidated and being at the fourth edition, we can’t no longer wait for the fifth which will take place after a long of series of 365 days.
Instead, what is not easy to convey with a story or some photographs it’s the atmosphere created. “A unique event, in which you can take part with a supercar or a vintage car and where in the end everyone will be fully satisfied, both winners and losers” – testimonies like this, sent by a participant of the CR4, are things that make the whole set of surreal moments, sometimes grotesque, absurd and even malicious, intended by the organizers, something that must be breathed in first person. You make new friends, you learn that team spirit is something that should be put first, and above it will put your mind and nerves to the test, in a race against prejudices and against the daily boredom. For two days you pull away the plug and put your wet fingers in the socket, taking a shock that would also awake the dead. Thus we have seen 70 Team dressed up as just escaped from a mental hospital, chasing ‘em up and down Emilia Romagna and Tuscany, with the complete amazement of passersby. It was possible to drive through incredible roads and breathtaking views, even giving vent to your right foot, but always with the objective to solve the riddles and find the evidence submitted by the staff in order to close the first day, and especially the second one, at the top of the score board.
We chatted with David and Giulio, who told us how in just four editions, the CrazyRun has now become a genuine cult phenomenon – CrazyRunner once, CrazyRunner forever! And so, this year we have seen a bunch of mad stuff, including supercars such as Ferrari, Maserati, Porsche going around madly, crossing places sometimes not so conventional, until those who had to bring their car to the workshop and make a dear friend working all night to repair the brakes, in order to be able to resume the competition the following morning. We’ve seen Team Rufus with that wonderful Range Rover Sport SVR with JPS livery, which whenever they stopped, the “butlers” aboard the 500 Abarth that followed them, came down quickly, opening their doors and pouring a flute of champagne. Crazy! Great involvement also on the social side, with particular attention to Facebook, especially during the test that required to obtain at least 150 like for your own photo and in this case, no one has been able to counter the cunning move made by Team Iron Man, who sponsored the release of their 488 Spider, thus obtaining 4600 likes!
70 Teams took part in this year’s edition and 70 teams have come out moral winners, having lived an unforgettable and rewarding experience. Two days filled with the purest and best madness, friendship, laughs and cars’ rumbles (but not only, see for example the absurd 12.000cc ex-military truck) and everyone is already thinking to the fifth edition, a important target that collects a deserved response from a continuous growing number of enthusiasts who want to enjoy this walk on the wild side. Because sometimes, the best medicine to escape from daily boredom, is a strong dose of healthy madness, a dose of CrazyRun!
