It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World | Cinema
The title speaks for itself: this world is utterly crazy, just like the protagonists who set off in search of a treasure buried by a criminal who reveals its location to them – sort of – immediately after an accident that is about to cost his life. Thus begins the craziest on the road adventure that bring perfect strangers to the hunt, ready to cross the country and be the first to get to the iconic X spot, in a way or another.
TITLE: It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World
YEAR: 1963
DIRECTED BY: Stanley Kramer
LENGHT: 3h 30 min
GENRE: comedy, action
It’s a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World is an action-packed comedy that is absolute joy for all fans of good cinema. The chase scenes are shot really well, thanks to a photograph and the excellent direction of Stanley Kramer, skilled in making 3 and a half hours pass (which would not even be the full version) with incredible ease, making us sympathize for everyone, precisely because all of them are incredibly crazy in their own way. This treasure hunt focuses on borderline gags and extreme characters, giving life to a trend that still today – 60 years later – works well, even if it has no longer managed to approach the quality level of this very movie. Cars therefore that play a fundamental role, albeit not in an absolute sense and that are literally sacrificed in the name of the hunt for the buried loot. A film that we can define as a masterpiece and which has stood the test of time as very few others have been able to do. If you haven’t already, watch this tonight!
