Jaguar XKR
Let’s assume you are looking for a car with generous dimensions, that can withstand long journeys and with a spacious trunk. At the same time you do not intend to give up the comfort and a remarkable driving smoothness, nor the overall style. You want something different from the usual large coupes and sedans and able at the same time to defend itself against the age proof: all with minimal expense. On balance, one of the best chances, if not the only car that meets all these characteristics, is the first series of the Jaguar XKR, that between 1998 and 2006, through two models that have as their main difference between, a increase in the size of the engine (from 4.0 is then become 4.2), but always maintaining a V 8-cylinder supercharged capable of delivering around 400 horses (370 on the first series and 400 on the second). Spending less than it would cost you to buy a brand new Fiat Panda, you bring home the elegance of this British Jaguar that gives a nod to the Aston Martin DB7, with noteworthy performance, despite not being a lightweight machine. The interior is comfortable and blends retro style with modern touches (door handles, for example), and although the materials used do not fully please (they easily rip apart and plastics are cheap), you’ll be too immersed in listening the roar of the V8 up front, under that long hood. Available in both coupe and cabrio version, the XKR can still make you smile a lot and, above all, thanks to its sinuous lines, it is definitely better than the model then arrived in 2006, too plasticky and tasteless. Are you convinced? There was no need, we know it.
