Lyonheart K: Tribute To The Sexiest Car Ever
The Jaguar E-Type is considered by many the most beautiful car ever built: it’s something that we have faced on several occasions, but really a few cars can claim to be an example even 50 years after their creation. A few years ago we witnessed the birth of the Eagle Speedster, later also available with the solid metal roof, and now it is the time for the Lyonheart. With a name so full of meaning, you can expect nothing but a re-enactment of a myth that has never gone out of fashion, while keeping faith with the elegance of one of the most elegant brand ever. A curious aspect is that Lyonheart is a small factory with its very headquarter in Coventry, right where Jaguars is born (and in this regard, I suggest you to read our interesting book about the life of Sir William Lyons, father and founder of the brand).
Initially, the production of this elegant sports car with clear references to the coupe driven by Diabolik, had to be limited to only 50 units, but after seeing the first sketches, the request was likely to convince the board to produce at least 250 pieces, both in coupe and roadster version with soft top. The model name is the simple and single letter “K”. You don’t need anything else in order to describe a cluster of carbon fiber and aluminum with a sinuous and harmonious shape like this. Along the front bonnet it is stored a big 5.0cc V8 courtesy of Cosworth capable of delivering 567 horsepower to the rear wheels. Seats are only two and the lucky passengers sit in the far back, greeted by a cabin that is a riot of leather and aluminum, everything rooted in a proper retro style. Modernity is here as for the six-speed automatic transmission from ZF and performance promised are worthy of its guru ancestor. Acceleration from 0 to 100 in less than 4 seconds and a top speed of over 260 kph. The spoked 20” wheels are part of the standard package, but Lyonheart offers to its customers countless goodies to make your own model unique. Prices start at € 360,000 for the Coupe and at € 375,000 for the roadster. Cheaper than the Eagle, but equally elegant and extremely sexy, just like the original E-Type. Another tribute to the Queen, made by a company that we hope will carry on with their work.
