The latest arrival in the McLaren line-up is the awaited Long Tail based on the phenomenal 720S and transforms an incredible supercar into something otherworldly.
We will try to describe the new super-McLaren trying not to drool excessively, but that won’t be easy. It’s the 765 LT and is the latest addition in the Long Tail series from Woking. Based on the extraordinary 720S, it takes on its originally curvy shapes and radically transforms them thanks to an avalanche of edges and aerodynamic appendages that give it an extreme look, perfectly able to suggest what it will be capable of once on the move.
The twin-turbo 4-liter V8 delivers 765 horsepower and 800 Nm of torque, traction that obviously remains at the rear and a whole series of updates that improve the responsiveness of the gearbox and suspension, but also specific pistons and cylinder heads “borrowed” from the Senna. There is even the new Limit Downshift function that stores the best revs match of the driver. But even less weight, with a saving of 80kg which drops the total mass to just 1,229kg, allowing the LT to shoot from 0 to 100 kph in 2.8 seconds and reach 200 in just 7.2 seconds.
The new aerodynamic suit is now more like a carbon fiber armor, ready to split the air and create 25% more downforce, thanks to new bumpers, underbody, side skirts, diffuser and a rear spoiler 60mm increased in height thus able to act in three different modes: Driver Downforce, activated with Aero function, automatic DRS that reduces air resistance and High Speed Braking, which optimizes spaces when braking hard. New is the titanium exhaust system with four tailpipes located at the center of the back, lighter and more noisy, new forged wheels and Pirelli Trofeo R tires that surround the carbon-ceramic brake system.
Inside there is plenty of Alcantara and carbon fiber, but lucky customers will be able to opt for air conditioning and audio system, as a free option. It does not end here, because the MSO department offers its ability to make every single request of its customers come to life, in order to make your 765LT unique. This is not a supercar with aerospace performance, it is something that will be able to overturn what until now we thought could be an extreme driving experience, in something even more mental.
