McLaren Pays Homage With A Can-Am Special Edition
From 1967 to 1971, McLaren has won 5 consecutive world titles in the Can-Am series (times considerably different to those living in F1 today). To celebrate the 50th anniversary of the first season of this competition, team MSO has studied and created a special model, the 650S Can-Am, which will be produced in only 50 units. Through the use of a significant amount of carbon fiber and the use of high-end materials, it celebrates the technological choices key to the successes achieved by the progenitor of the English car maker, the M1B; the new model has wheels inspired by those of the ’60s, here gloss black with diamond ring and titanium bolts, trying to conceal huge ceramic brake discs. The 650S Can-Am will be available in Mars Red, as its famous ancestor driven by Bruce McLaren and Chris Amon in the debut season, but it will also be available in Papaya Spark or Onyx Black. Finally, another distinctive trait compared to every other 650S, will be the quad exhaust system, virtually identical to those of the 675 LT. Prices starts from about € 344,000. Quite a lot, but you get a lot of car!
