McLaren Senna GTR: The Legend Gets Even More Extreme
Precisely one year after its preview, in that of Geneva in 2018, here we have the definitive version of the Senna GTR, the most performing and uncompromising McLaren to date. Obviously only usable on the track and with a production that will be limited to only 75 units – all already sold for prices starting at about €1.28 million – is based on the road legal Senna, with some tricks that make it even more extreme.
Pushing only 1,188kg of weight, the 4-liter twin-turbo V8 is capable of delivering 825 horsepower and 900 Nm of torque through a 7-speed SSG (Seamless Shift Gearbox) gearbox. The exhaust system is different from that anticipated by the prototype, then replaced with a single tailpipe positioned in the middle of the back, while the braking system will be a carbon-ceramic with 390mm discs and 6 and 4 piston calipers. At the driver’s disposal there is the possibility of selecting between 3 different driving modes, Wet, Track and Race, which will aptly intervene on the calibration of the ABS and stability control. At the aerodynamic level there are many innovations both at the front and back, but what has probably already caught your attention is represented by the huge wing at the rear, capable of a stunning result that reaches 1 ton of downforce at 250 kph, well 800kg more than the version with number plate.
Being designed for track days, the Senna GTR says goodbye to its touch screens and audio system, but does not give up the air conditioner. There is a display with digital competition instrumentation and a second display which, thanks to a rear view camera, replaces the central rearview mirror, while all 75 GTRs will be right-hand drive and with the passenger seat available on request, fitting 19” forged alloy monoblock wheels and windshields and windows in polycarbonate.
