New 911 Welcomes Turbo Engines
Revolution for the horse from Zuffenhausen! Not so much on the aesthetic side, as much as on the technical side. From the design point of view, in fact, upgrades are minimal and everything would seem a simple restyling: slight changes at the daytime xenon running lights and for the shape of the rear spoiler, nothing more. The revolution refers to the engines department, which marks a sharp change of direction compared to the current tradition, a little ‘how it was the transition from air cooling to the water lived in the late’ 90s. Farewell to the naturally aspirated engine, welcome turbo: the revolution is served! With the new model, the existing 3.4 and 3.8 aspirated will retire to make way for a new generation of engines, always boxer, but with a displacement stopped at 3.0 and with turbocharger, or rather two turbochargers! The new turbo engine guarantees on all versions a power increase of approximately 20-30 hp and, above all, an increase of almost 60/80 Nm of torque. Precisely the use of two turbochargers would also let available the abundant torque at already 1,700 rpm, rather than above the 5,600 rpm as it happens on the n/a motorizations. End of an era ??
