New Audi A4: All-New, or not?
Barely a week after the presentation of the long-awaited Alfa Romeo Giulia, one of its main competitors is revealed: welcome the new Audi A4. The German sedan, unlike the Italian one, who bet everything on a technical revolution has chosen to follow the path of evolution, focusing on many improvements a little everywhere. The traditional Audi’s family feeling is transferred on the new A4 showing a little more angular shape thanks to the new hexagonal grille, the renewed light clusters and a more aggressive side made even more sculptural because of a scratching that crosses the whole vehicle ideally linking the two pairs of headlights. Otherwise, the cleaning of the lines and a certain stylistic rigidity are the main pattern going to positively affect the aerodynamics of the new sedan that now has the best “CX” in its class: 0.23. The new body is slightly larger than that of the previous version: the length of 4.73 meters (+2.5 cm) and the wheelbase of 2,82 meters (+1.2 cm) have allowed to obtain 2,3 cm more space for rear passengers. More news under the dress: the use of the new modular “MLB” platform shared with other models of the group and the use of noble materials such as aluminum have enabled the new born to save as many as 120 kg of weight compared to the previous generation. Developments also regarding its heart, or rather the hearts of the new Audi A4 that now have an average reduction in consumption of 21% compared with an increase in power up to 25%. We find a petrol 1.4 TFSI with 150 hp and a 2.0 TFSI engine available with 190 and 252 hp. Among the diesel powered versions we have a 2.0 TDI with 122, 150 and 190 hp or a 3.0 TDI with 218 and 272 hp. All engines can be combined with either the classic 6-speed manual gearbox or the 7-speed automatic S-Tronic or 8-speed Tiptronic, however, reserved only to the most powerful 272-hp version. Of course you will also get the traditional Quattro four-wheel drive. The new Audi A4 will be officially presented to the public at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show, and will be immediately released in both sedan and Avant versions.
