New ‘Ring’s Record
The record for front wheel drive cars, just in the hands of the Seat Leon Cupra, has just been disintegrated by the most powerful RenaultSport Megane ever produced. The new Trophy R lowered the lap time by 4 seconds, stopping the clock at an incredible 7m54.36s. To get a car of such benefits, RenaultSport have operated an accurate method of weight reduction that sees the elimination of the rear seats and the rear window (replaced with a panel), a smaller battery, 19” ultralight Speedline wheels, Recaro seats obtained from a single frame of polycarbonate and other devices. Then, the 2.0cc turbo was brought to share 271 bhp and were fitted an Akrapovis titanium sports exhaust, adjustable Ohlins dumpers, more powerful brakes and Michelin Pilot Sport Cup tires. Easily recognizable even for the special two-tone livery, the Megane RS Trophy R will be produced in only 250 units and will cost around € 45,000.
