No Matter The Landscape
“With Jaguar, I have a long history that began in 1990, when I bought my first one, in England: it was a 4.2 XJ Sovereign sedan, which I held until November 2014. Exactly ten years later, I also bought a gorgeous XK8 Convertible”.
Here’s how Angelo begins, enthusiast and owner of a beautiful XKR, purchased at the end of 2014, giving in his faithful XJ and XK8. As if to emphasize how his connection with the House of Coventry has become inseparable from the day he could bring in the garage his very first Jag.
The model you see through these pages, dated 2008, belongs to the second series of the recent XKs and features the powerful 4.2 supercharged V8, capable of delivering on the rear axle 416 horses and 560 Nm of torque. These numbers, thanks to an excellent 6-speed automatic gearbox and the aluminum monocoque, which helps to limit the overall weight at around 1,660 kg, offer a compromise of truly remarkable performance, that do not embarrass the handling necessary for a sportier driving, also without never being uncomfortable. Indeed, as the owner himself repeatedly remarks, one of the best aspects of this big coupe, is the ease with which you can grind km, real key point of the use of his XKR. Trips outside the city, although they are longer than expected, only consume fuel, but increase the desire and the need to drive this 8-cylinder of a dual nature.
The XKR, in fact, behind the guise of an elegant and after all sober shape, who never betrays a typically British look, hides a markedly sporty nature, worthy of the ancestors from Coventry. The engine, always generous and ready to download on the ground its cavalry, responds to the slightest pressure on the accelerator pedal, being able to take advantage of the wide rear tires and so able to ground the arrogance of one of the longest-running engines of the Company. It takes 5.2 seconds to go from 0 to 100 kph, while top speed is electronically limited to 250. Angelo would like to bring his Jag on track, where it would then be able to take full advantage of such power, without having to go home with the wallets orphan of his driving license.
We think that this body color, with a beige leather interior, enhanced by the combination of wood and aluminum, is incredibly able to bring together elegance and sportiness, don’t you agree? Trust me, this is not everyone’s stuff. We understand how Angelo want to take advantage of every opportunity to cut loose, maybe on weekend, sitting at the wheel and, along with his wife, drive, drive and drive. No matter whether on a mountain’s road, hills, plains or prestigious seaside.
No matter what’s out there; as long as it is seen through the eyes of a Jaguar, everything is more beautiful.
