PASSO DELLA RATICOSA / PASSO DELLA FUTA
Not every winding and fun road is located on the Alps, one of the most interesting examples is the Apennine couple of the Raticosa pass and the Futa pass, two hills roads that remain just under 1,000 meters above sea level, but which have nothing to envy to the most typical alpine stretches. Being then about a dozen kilometers from each other, talking about the two as a whole seems right to us, even taking into account the importance they play in the automotive world and beyond – after all these were among the favorite roads of a certain Enzo Ferrari.
Location: Passo della Raticosa / Passo della Futa
Elevation: 968 m / 903 m
Type: hill road
Regardless of whether you are coming from the north side or the south one, both offer a significant number of curves and a road surface in good condition, wide enough to allow you to move freely, while paying attention to the possibility of incoming traffic, especially made of other four and two wheels enthusiasts which can come here, especially during spring and summer weekends. At the top of the Raticosa pass, there is a large area and a restaurant that has become a proper checkpoint, while the Futa pass offers a more intimate and narrow landscape courtesy of its thickest vegetation. Also in this case, once you’ve reached the top of the road, you’ll find a characteristic restaurant ready to let you taste one of the many delicious aspects of our beautiful Country.
