Pink Drivers: Ford Mustang GT V8 Convertible
Pink Drivers – Episode 2
Ford Mustang GT V8 Convertible
The first time you press the throttle, it makes a bit of an impression, I have to admit that. You can’t help but realize that something serious is happening. The engine revs up, the rear presses itself to the ground and the giant bonnet points almost skyward over your head. However, what is promised with the latest generation of the Ford Mustang is maintained and demonstrated already on the first kilometers at the wheel, even with its mid-age update. It is no longer a car ready to punish every slightest mistake, but rather a big and noisy travel companion ready to give you days of strong emotions, especially when you can take advantage of a nice sunny day.
We will not be talking about technical specs or how the 10-speed automatic transmission is suitable for living together in the city, as well as being able to let you get excited on mountain roads – read our complete review for that – what I want is being able to underline how Ford has managed to score another exceptional shot, making a bulky and heavy GT with enough power to leave several marks on the asphalt (the V8 delivers 460 horses and 569 Nm of torque on the rear wheels) a car with multiple abilities, depending on the driving mode the driver opts for and especially how to approach it in the first place. You can appreciate a soft and comfortable ride for long journeys, without letting petrol refills to become an obsession, but at the same time you can erase all of your savings as you call into question the purest instinct of this purebred stallion.
Sometimes you do not need the endless straights of the Route 66 to live your American dream, especially if you are lucky enough to hold the wheel of a Mustang, even more so if it is the one driven by the 8 cylinders, a fundamental ingredient not so much for the performance side, but rather to close the circle of the ideal driving experience with this type of car. I am lucky enough to drive a lot of cars and I constantly realize that the best emotions are not necessarily to be found in those ready to break your bones as main objective. Exactly, just like with the restyling of the new Mustang GT V8, even better if Convertible, let alone with a full tank of petrol to take to the end on a road worthy of being called epic.
