Porsche 718 Spyder RS | News
It will be a painful farewell, the one we will soon have to say to the Boxster and Porsche thus decides to pay homage with one last great celebration. This is how the new 718 Spyder RS comes to life, the most powerful and exclusive Boxster ever, which assimilates some of the distinctive features of the Speedster models and wears the extremely powerful 500 horsepower 4-litre engine of the 911 GT3. Instant classics? Quite surely.
The Spyder RS is incredibly special and for the occasion is configured with a lightened body, specific aerodynamic appendages, a fabric top that is only useful in case of sudden rain and a naturally aspirated engine that will delight anyone who has felt the lack of the red line at the top of the rev scale, at 9,000 rpm to be precise. Extraordinary performance in the order of 3.4 seconds for 0-100 kph and a top speed of 308 per hour, not to mention unparalleled precision and driving dynamics thanks to the fact that such power is available under a car body of just 1,410 kg – 40 kg less than the 718 Boxster – and with such small dimensions.
Aesthetically immediately recognizable, the Spyder RS sports two NACA intakes for cooling the front brakes and a ducktail spoiler at the back, accentuating the ribs that envelop substantial modifications that transform a performing all-round convertible into a road and racing weapon. Exclusively available with the 7-speed PDK gearbox, it also features a self-locking differential and 20″ forged magnesium rims, together with a sports exhaust system and a couple of tailpipes inspired by those of the Porsche 935 of the 2018. Coming in June.
